😱 Panic mode
Google's new AI search tool is causing panic among news publishers. And our devices really are listening in on our private conversations.
Hey friends, Google’s new AI search tool is causing panic among news publishers.
The tool, called “Search Generative Experience” (terrible name) may further disrupt the news media who currently rely on traffic from Google’s search engine. This is because Google’s AI tool could supply users with full answers to their search queries, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
Estimates by publishers show that they could lose between 20 to 40 percent of their Google search traffic if such a system were implemented on a wide scale. Currently, some publishers’ sites receive a large majority of their traffic from Google’s search engine. For example, Investopedia gets more than 80 percent of their traffic from Google, according to the Journal.
