Another way governments can track smartphones
Unknown foreign and U.S. government agencies have been requesting push notification metadata.
If you think your phone’s push notifications are secure, a new report from Reuters shows why this may not be the case. According to the report, unidentified governments have been spying on smart phone users through push notifications.
In the report, released yesterday, Reuters notes that Oregon Senator Ron Wyden submitted a letter to the Department of Justice asking for public transparency on the matter. “Although details were sparse, the letter lays out yet another path by which governments can track smartphones,” writes Reuters.
